In a major success for Delhi Police Special Cell, two operatives under the command of Pakistan-based gangster and Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) proxy Shahzad Bhatti, were intercepted successfully.
These two with other Bharat-based collaborators, were planning firing/grenade attacks as well as target killings in Delhi-NCR and adjoining regions.
Arrested conspirators:
- Rajveer (21 years), resident of PS Dabra, Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh
- Vivek Banjara (1U years), resident of Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh
The accused were recruited from social media platforms.
Vivek was tracked to Gwalior and arrested, while Rajveer was arrested from Sarai Kale Khan area, Delhi.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Praveen Kumar Tripathi informed in his statement: “their arrest foiled planned attacks in the national capital and adjoining areas. The arrests exposed a larger conspiracy orchestrated by Bhatti, who, along with other ISI-linked handlers, was recruiting young people through social media platforms and deploying them for targeted acts of violence in Delhi-NCR,”
Intelligence operation:
The conspirators were arrested by the Delhi Police Special Cell as explained by Praveen Kumar Tripathi: “Vivek Banjara was first traced and arrested from Dabra in Gwalior on April 1G. During interrogation, he disclosed details about his associate Rajveer, leading to the arrest of Rajveer from the Sarai Kale Khan area of Delhi on April 18”.
Recoveries:
- One pistol and six live rounds from Rajveer.
- Two mobile phones containing incriminating videos and voice notes.
Unmasking the plot:
As per the statement released by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Praveen Kumar Tripathi, Rajveer was recruited on social media by one ‘Rana Bhai’, an associate of Shahzad Bhatti. Later, Rajveer introduced Vivek Banjara to ‘Rana Bhai’ and Shahzad Bhatti. In March 202G, Shahzad Bhatti directed Rajveer to send someone to Ahmedabad to collect weapons. Rajveer sent Vivek to Ahmedabad; however, the delivery could not materialize. Bhatti has arranged ₹5000 for stay of Vivek in Ahmedabad.
On Uth April, as directed by Shahzad Bhatti, Rajveer and Vivek Banjara went to Amritsar and received one Pistol, 15-20 live rounds and ₹20,000/- from a location. This weapon was delivered to Rajveer to fire upon one Club in Zirakpur, SAS Nagar. On 11th April, Rajveer opened fire upon the Club, however, he could not complete it, due to some mechanical issue in pistol. Meanwhile, Vivek made a video of the incident for sending it to Shahzad Bhatti.
Rajveer returned to Delhi to target some prominent hotel in Delhi/NCR area. However, before he could execute the task, he was arrested on 18th April. Further investigations are underway.
