Iran’s Supreme Leader Declares Victory Over USA-Israel Amidst Fragile Truce

In a written statement released by Tehran-based Fars News Agency, Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei announced the defeat of its “malicious enemy”, referring to Israel and USA, at the 37th death anniversary of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, leader of the 1979 Islamic Revolution of Iran.

The proclamation was made on June 4 (Thursday), where the Supreme Leader further accused Israel and USA of embarking on a “hybrid warfare” schema against Iran.

The Supreme Leader of Iran, in his statement, noted that,

“The malicious enemy, having been defeated in its confrontation with your brave sons in the Armed Forces and having experienced a profound and meaningful humiliation both on the battlefield and in the public arena, has concentrated its efforts on two objectives in the framework of hybrid warfare: weakening the people’s resilience and creating miscalculations among the country’s officials.”

This development comes amidst speculation of a possible peace agreement between USA and Iran, bringing about a cessation of hostilities in West Asia, since 28 February’s Israel/US-Iran conflict.

The war has already dealt a massive blow to global economy, owing to the choking of the vital maritime corridor, namely, the Strait of Hormuz.

Mojtaba Khamenei’s Call For Unity

In addition, the Supreme Leader called upon Iranians to remain united and stand unwaveringly against the enemy’s divisive attempts, terming them as “sinister plots” to cause disruption in Iran.

“The enemy seeks to create doubt, frustration, fear, mistrust, and discord, stressing that all Iranians must foil such sinister plots through steadfastness and insight by preserving unity, cohesion, and mutual trust, and refusal to echo their voice,” as reported by the state’s semi-official media outlet, Fars News Agency.

Khamenei Discussed Israel And USA

Mojtaba Khamenei also divulged his views on Israel, stating that,

“The system of domination that created a military outpost, called Israel, nearly 80 years ago cannot accept the existence of a strong and independent Iran, endowed with numerous advantages and capabilities, on the Eastern border of the false and fictitious geography of Greater Israel, that is the East of the Euphrates, so it spares no effort to prevent its (Iran’s) progress.”

Further, the Supreme Leader called the America-led system “arrogant”, which, he says, has an issue with Iran and its “unique identity”, along with “its unwillingness to surrender.”

This highlights the persisting strategic trust deficit amongst these nation-states, which could result in uncertainty regarding sustained peace in West Asia.

Iran Expresses Support For Palestine

In another development, Syed Abbas Araghchi, Iranian Foreign Minister, has voiced support for Palestine and Lebanon in fresh talks with Khalil al-Hayya, leader of militant outfit Hamas (Palestine).

Thus, any peace efforts in the region must extend to Lebanon and Palestine to ensure long-standing ceasefire.

Iran’s New Supreme Leader

Mojtaba Khamenei was selected as the new Supreme Leader of Iran by an Assembly of Experts, consisting of 88 members, after his father Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s demise in Operation Epic Fury.

Operation Epic Fury was a joint attack by Israel and USA on Iran, that had commenced on February 28, 2026.

Currently, the region is in a fragile state of truce, with fresh strikes reported on either side, including an attack on Kuwait which killed one Indian national.
