IIT Jammu develops “stealth drones” for the Indian Army

In a breakthrough for indigenous defence capability, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jammu has developed advanced “stealth drones” which can go undetected by radars as well as bypass electronic jamming.

This strengthens “Atmanirbharta” (self-reliance) for local defence manufacturing and a possible export market in the drone industry.

Key features:

  1. The drones use carbon fibre and optical fibre rather than traditional radio frequency to avoid interception.
  2. Lightweight and durable.
  3. Enhance surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities of the army.
  4. Operational in difficult terrains and challenging environments.
  5. Strategic edge to the armed forces.

Trials are completed successfully and their induction in the Indian Army is soon expected
