While Tesla initially planned to absorb the 34% tariff, it became unsustainable as tariffs increased to 125%, Reuters reports, citing sources familiar with the matter.

The company had intended to begin trial production of the two models in October, with mass production set for 2026 in Texas and Nevada. This move follows President Trump’s recent tariff hike on Chinese goods, which could disrupt Tesla’s production schedule.

The increased tariffs ,now totaling 145%, have significantly impacted Tesla’s shipping plans, threatening the timeline for these major innovations.
