Bharat-Pakistan Tensions Escalate: Operation Sindoor and Strategic Moves

The Indian military and diplomatic action over the weeks suggests that there are increasing tensions between Bharat-Pakistan following the launch of the recent Operation Sindoor in response to the Pahalgam attack that killed 26 civilians on April 22, 2025, with Indian troops attacking terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated in a rally in Gujarat, telling the people, “Roti Khao Warna Meri Goli Toh Hai Hi” (Live a life of peace, eat your bread, or choose my bullet), indicating Bharat’s zero tolerance
for terrorism.
The cancellation of major engagements by Indian officials indicates the severity of the situation. The National Security Advisor (NSA) cancelled a trip to Russia, while all three Armed Forces Chiefs decided to cancel the IPL final, in the name of national security.
Furthermore, Bharat was going to have a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) from June 8-11, 2025, of potential airspace restrictions, possibly due to military exercises or operations.
In terms of the diplomatic front, Prime Minister Modi cancelled attending the G7 Summit in Canada, which should be noted is the first time in 6 years, with growing tensions with Canada over Canada’s 2023 accusation against Bharat. This was consistent with Bharat’s policy tondefend its in-process counteraction against Pakistan, as Modi chairs high-level meetings to determine additional counteractions. Operation Sindoor, being Bharat’s most successful antiterror operation, continues to be a deciding factor for Bharat, looking aggressive.
Pakistan, on the other hand, has already stepped up its defence efforts, its Air Force is on full alert, and the Pakistani government has cancelled all leave. This response is based on Bharat’s
precision strikes, which reportedly put Pakistan’s air capability back for over five years. It
struck Pakistan’s radars and air command and control. Modi’s resolve has been firmly stated. “Na sounga, na sone dunga ” ( I will not sleep, nor let you sleep ), thus showing decisive action against terrorism. Operation Sindoor reflects indigenous defence capabilities and demonstrates a commitment to national security and self-reliance
