On May 28, during the occasion of Bakrid (Eid al-Adha), an appalling incident took place in Uttar Pradesh’s (UP) Ghaziabad district.
A class 11 student Surya, merely 17 years old, was brutally murdered by his friend Asad, stabbed with an alleged intent to kill.
Surya Pratap Chauhan, a resident of Navneet Vihar, Khoda colony, could not survive and passed away the following day at Fortis Hospital.
Arrests Made By The Police
The accused Asad is yet to be arrested, where the FIR was first registered at the Khoda Police Station after Surya’s elder brother Yash filed a complaint.
“The reason behind the murder is not clear yet. The accused is absconding and several teams have been formed to arrest him,” according to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Dhawal Jaiswal.
Three accused have been intercepted, as stated by Abhishek Srivastava, Assistant Police Commissioner (Indirapuram),
“Based on a written complaint received from the family in the said case, an FIR was registered under relevant sections, and teams were formed to arrest the accused. Today, in that case, the Khoda police team has arrested three named accused, and in addition, two other suspects have also been taken into custody.”
Details Of The Horrendous Killing
As per reports, Surya, accompanied by his friends Vicky and Ayush, met Asad outside the latter’s home at about 3:30 pm.
The accused Asad proceeded to ask Surya, “kabhi bakra halal hote dekha hai?” (Have you ever witnessed a goat being slaughtered?)
According to Vicky (friend), the deceased Surya had replied “no”, after which Asad started hurling abuses and stabbed Surya several times in his stomach before fleeing the spot.
Surya’s brother Yash said,
“Asad stabbed my brother four times in the abdomen with intent to kill. After getting information, we immediately reached and took him to a nearby private hospital, where he succumbed to injuries.”
Previously, around 8 months prior to the murder, both Surya and Asad were involved in a physical altercation multiple times, however, both moved forward and became “friends”.
Last Rites Held Amid Police Deployment
Surya’s last rites were held today under the supervision of the UP Police Administration.
Local residents turned out in large numbers to offer their final respects to Surya.
Online Public Outrage
Grieved family members and a massive amount of social media users have voiced out support for Surya, demanding justice for him.
UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is expected to meet Surya’s family tomorrow.
