Suvendu Adhikari’s PA Shot Dead!

The upcoming Chief Minister and the current opposition leader Suvendu Adhikari’s personal
assistant Chandra Nath Dutt has been shot dead in Madhyamgram, Kolkata on late Wednesday
night (May 6) in continuing post-poll violence in West Bengal, exposing the fragile state of law
and order persisting there.

Killed at point-blank range

As per reports, Chandra was in a white Scorpio when unidentified assailants opened fire from a
point-blank range, firing at least 4 shots, targeting his head, chest and leg, where 3 shots hit
him. He was swiftly taken to a private hospital, but he was pronounced dead.
The assailants were on a motorcycle and were following Chandra’s car, firing at it when the car
slowed. Police has launched investigation into the matter. Reportedly, Suvendu Adhikari is also en route to Kolkata.

Post-poll aggression in West Bengal

Following the conclusion of 2026 state legislative assembly elections in West Bengal , just
yesterday on May 5, the state saw renewed post-poll violence where Central Forces personnel
were attacked in Sandeshkhali, injuring 5 personnel, including 3 police officers and 2 CRPF
jawans.

Historic verdict in West Bengal polls

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), led by Suvendu Adhikari, is set to form the government after
its landmark victory in the 2026 state elections.It ends Mamata Bannerjee-led TMC’s rule of 15 years, stirring tensions in the state.
