Jammu and Kashmir Goverment taken over 58 private schools linked with jamaat e Islami

The Jammu and Kashmir government on Saturday 18th April have taken the control of 58 private schools affiliated with jammat e islami and its educational trust the falah e aam trust (FAT).

As per the official data,the action has been taken by the order of Jammu and Kashmir government.

The commissioner secretary School education Department (SED) on April 17 of 2026 has issued the order for taking over the control of 58 private schools out of 273 such schools affiliate with the jammat e islami and its falah e aam trust.

The order to take the control have been issued with reference to the notification issued by Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India declaring JeI an unlawful association under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA).

The organisation was banned in 2019 for five years with the ban extended for another five years in 2024.

Authorities said the move is aimed to maintain quality education under the National Education Policy (NEP).
