India is indeed under significant pressure from its neighbours, creating a complex and challenging geopolitical environment in 2025. India’s neighbours are also connected to India ethnically, culturally, religiously, and, indeed, by civilisational roots. In theory this is fine. In reality, however, a country is more likely to have more problems with neighbours than with distant countries, as neighbours impinge on each other much more and are likely to have more friction.
India’s neighbourhood first policy
India has to live with these realities. A “Neighbourhood First” policy of India is not reciprocated by a “Neighbourhood First” policy of our neighbours, barring Bhutan. But in some cases, Bhutan too, China is following an insidious policy of wooing and bullying Bhutan at the same time, which is placing some pressure on us in managing our essentially very friendly ties with that country.
Failed India’s Information Warfare
India’s Information warfare is failing every-time on every cases. Considering recent incidents like Operation Sindoor, Air-India plan’s crash, Cow roaming around on the Indian street, dirty and bad quality road, extra healthy body shape of Indian people, less hygiene sense, no sense of dressing and most like the pronunciation of English words by Indian youth are making a laughing stock for India’s neighbours and showing the standard of India to the world in a sense of information. Presenting India’s position is failing in the information warfare.
Let’s understand each country individually
Pakistan: Relations remain hostile with ongoing tensions and terrorism sponsored by Pakistan. Despite calls for peace, Pakistan continues to fund terror activities against India, maintaining a simmering conflict, especially in Jammu and Kashmir.
China: India faces a high threat level from China due to longstanding border disputes along their 3,488 km Line of Actual Control (LAC), including past conflicts like the 1962 war, the 2017 Doklam standoff, and the 2020 Galwan clash. China employs a “salami slicing” strategy, incrementally encroaching on disputed areas and building infrastructure to alter facts on the ground. China also supports Pakistan strategically and economically through the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which passes through Indian-claimed territory.
Additionally, China is strategically encircling India in the Indo-Pacific region through its “String of Pearls” strategy by developing ports in Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Myanmar.
Bangladesh and Sri Lanka: While Bangladesh shares cultural ties with India, there is a lack of trust and ongoing water-sharing disputes. Sri Lanka is under economic pressure from China due to debt and infrastructure investments, which complicates its diplomatic stance. Although Sri Lanka shows some recent improvement in relations with India, China’s influence remains significant.
Bhutan: Traditionally a close ally, Bhutan is under increasing pressure from China, which has made territorial claims and is pushing for a boundary agreement that could affect India’s strategic interests, especially around the Doklam Plateau. Bhutan maintains a friendly stance toward India but faces coercion from China.
Maldives: The Maldives is politically unstable and economically influenced by China, raising concerns for India due to the Maldives’ strategic location in the Indian Ocean. However, there have been some recent positive diplomatic engagements between India and the Maldives.
Nepal and Myanmar: Both countries are drifting closer to China due to economic dependence and political influence, which reduces India’s traditional sway in the region. China’s role in uniting political parties in Nepal and backing Myanmar’s military government highlights its growing influence.
Beside of all India’s neighbours, there is another country called The United States of America. Not being a neighbour country also, US is also playing a big role to pressurarize India on every sector. The reason is India is mostly depend on US for its exports, big Indian’s diaspora and American dreams. We will discuss on this topic on another article.
Another big problem of illegal immigrants from Bangladesh and Pakistan and Barma. With the help some state government for their vote bank politics, few state government are supporting the Rohingyas to come inside and get easy access of different government facilities.
Overall situation:
India finds itself militarily strong but diplomatically isolated and strategically tested. Its neighbors are either hostile, under pressure from China, or leaning toward Beijing due to economic dependencies. This situation challenges India’s security, diplomacy, and regional influence. The geographic reality of being surrounded by such neighbours is considered both a threat and a test for India’s strategic resilience.
India’s real challenge is not only defending its borders but also reshaping its diplomatic narrative to command respect and attract allies economically and politically. Strength today is measured beyond military might, relying heavily on diplomacy and economic influence to counterbalance China’s growing dominance in South Asia.
Is Modi Ji too soft to its neighbours or there is another game waiting for Indians which can draw Indian’s new future?
India’s present home minister Mr. Amit Sha is the man who takes the decisions of merging all leftover places of Bharat and form Akhand Bharat in reality. But When considering Akhand Bharat, it is a dangerous action which need to increase economical, military and export power with a big boost from internal technical aspect. Effect of Chinese loan and 3.5 front of war effecting India
India’s hostile neighbours purely unstable and running based on Chinese loan. The biggest loan absorver is Indian’s biggest brother Pakistan. Then comes to Bangladesh. Almost 85% of Bangladesh’s cotton business is owned or controlled by Chinese busieness man. Next, Sri-Lanka which is ties with China and give full control of Hambontota Port to Chinese Army because Sri-Lanka was unable to return the loan amount on time.
3.5 front war where 0.5 front are the most critical situation where India is struggling to handle from long period. These approach makes a disturbance of this 0.5 front supporters people. Most of them are so called peace loving community.
